Al Limberg, 61 of Saginaw, MI, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Toni and Trish Hospice Care Home. He was born on June 3, 1950, in Midland to the late Elwyn and Annie (Birrell) Limberg.

Al graduated from Midland High School in 1968 and Michigan State University in 1973.

Al loved music and dedicated most of his life to it. In his early years, he owned Watermelon Sugar Instruments in Old Town Saginaw and helped many budding musicians get started in their music careers.

He was a true friend to all and was always there to help anyone in need. He later turned to sound production. He was recognized by his peers in the music industry as an outstanding soundman.

The Bay Area Review Magazine recognized Al as the best soundman seventeen times and in 2007 he received the award as the Person Making the Biggest Impact in the music scene in the last twenty years. As one musician friend once said, “Al can make a bad band sound good and a good band sounds fabulous”.

He is survived by his sons, Grant (Sri) Limberg of Orange County, CA and Carey Limberg of Midland; his daughters, Alyssa Limberg of Midland and Virginia Limberg of Tampa, FL; grandson, Teagan Limberg of Orange County, CA; brothers, Tom (Elizabeth) Limberg of Mackinaw City and Ken (Beverly) Limberg of Plymouth, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by the mother of Grant, Laura Sage; and the mother of Carey, Alyssa, and Virginia, Beth Bishop. He will be missed by his mother and father-in-law, Lyle and Mary Fran Bishop of Saginaw.

Al was predeceased by his father, Elwyn; mother, Annie; and sister, Mary Dunham.
