Aileen G. Redington, 91, of rural Galesburg died at 4:40pm, Friday November 6 at Community Hospital South, Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on April 8, 1918 in Little York, Illinois, the youngest daughter of seven children of Michael R. and Nellie Doyle Lee and raised in a single-parent family since her her father died three months before her birth in the worldwide flu epidemic of 1918. She married Edward Redington on April 3, 1945 in Monmouth.
He died on November 13, 2001. She valued her Catholic faith, her family, and the importance of education. She demonstrated unconditional love, steadfast loyalty, gracious hospitality and a positive spirit throughout her life. She enjoyed flower gardening, preparing home-cooked meals for large family gatherings, especially during the holidays, and keeping up with the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are four sons, Patrick (and Deirdre) of Peoria, Peter (and Denise) of Chicago, Phillip (and Linda) of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Paul (and Kathleen) of Bolingbrook; one daughter, Pamela (and Edward) Curley of Greenwood, Indiana. 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galesburg.
