Aileen Doby LaPage, age 89, passed away at her home in Deming, NM the morning of February 4th, 2018.

Aileen is survived by her children, her son Paul LaPage and daughter-in-law Susan of Molino, Florida, and her daughter Sue Bennett Geistwhite and son-in-law Richard of Newberg, Oregon, as well as her grandchildren Sarah Woodfin (Woody); Brenda Barker (Warren); John LaPage (Brittney); step-grandchild Heidi Sauberg (Paul) as well as two sisters in law, a niece and several cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Doby and Omar Doby, her husband Robert D. LaPage, and her siblings Joe Doby and Bill Nichols.

Aileen was born on October 2, 1928, in Columbus, New Mexico.  She is a graduate of Western New Mexico University with a BS degree and holds a Master’s Degree in Natural Sciences. She attended the National Science Foundation Institutes at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales and New Mexico State University in Las Cruces as well as the institute at Arizona State. She taught for 25 years in the Deming Public School system, twelve years at the Junior High level, and thirteen at the High School level. The subjects she taught included mathematics, general science, physical science, and biology.

She served initially as the secretary of the Deming School Employees Credit Union under Barney Teague, and after his death, she took over the job as President for many years.

Aileen has been recognized for her volunteer work. She was AARP tax consultant, wrote receipts and acknowledgments for donations and memorials for the local Hospice organization, and volunteered at the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum.
