Aileen Delores Richards Thompson, 89, of Morehead, was called home to meet the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

She was born January 6, 1929, in Olive Hill, a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Bocook Richards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Gavin Thompson, six sisters, and three brothers.

Her husband of 57 years, William Allen “Al” Thompson, also preceded her in death on March 2, 2008.

She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Ross (Randy) of Morehead; three sons, Greg Thompson (Barb) of Morehead, Daryl Thompson of West Liberty, and Randy Thompson (Cindy) of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Dustin Barker, Tyler Drake, Heather Barker, Darya Thompson, Kaitlyn Ross, John Thompson, and Chance Thompson; and 11 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Bailey of Hitchens and Bertha Carpenter of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

Aileen was a former cook at Clearfield Elementary and Rowan County High School and a former sales clerk at Heck’s Department Store and Olive Hill Drug Store. Known for her sense of style and fashionable attire, she was a breast cancer survivor and enjoyed writing poetry, listening to gospel music, and baking.
