Mrs. Agnes Williams was born October 9, 1929, in Smiths Grove Kentucky, to the union of Chastine “PawPaw” Smith and Ester “MawMaw” Smith. Both preceded her into glory.
Agnes started off her young life in Kentucky, getting her early education. In 1941, her family, she relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana.
Agnes was the eldest child and first born daughter out of seven children. She was a big help in nurturing and loving each of her younger siblings.
At the tender young age of seventeen, Agnes was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Roger Williams on May 20, 1947. Together they briefly moved to Dayton, Ohio, but ended up settling in Indianapolis, Indiana. All because these two fell in love, five children were born to this union; one boy and four girls. Roger and Agnes were truly inseparable. He made sure she was treated as a queen, and together they taught their children the value of family, love and commitment. They were married fifty years until Roger went to glory on October 10, 1997.
She loved going to bingo and casino’s, and experienced gambling in Las Vegas. Agnes loved her family. She played an important role in helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who in turn all brought her so much joy.
Agnes never hesitated to speak her mind no matter what the situation was. By her southside community where she resided, she was affectionately known as “Triple A”.
Agnes’ health began to decline in 2009, and her children unanimously decided that she would remain at home and they would care for her.
Her son “Roger Jack”, before his sudden death in 2013, along with his four sisters, Beverly, Cathy, Christine, Trina, and daughter-in-law, Patricia, along with the Anointed Touch Home Health Care, were her caregivers. They were attentive to her every need, her daily care and medical concerns. They provided her with patience, compassion, comfort, security, reassurance, companionship, and above all unconditional love.
She had a lot of sayings that we will remember her by as when there was jokes and laughter. She would say “No Fool, No Fun”, or if you would ask her how she was doing she would say “I’m kicking, but not high”. Lastly, at the end of her day she would say “I’m about to take it on in, lay it on down and stretch it on out”, and that is exactly what she did on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at 1:18 a.m., when God called His child home.
Mrs. Agnes Williams was preceded in death by her son, Roger Jack Williams and grandson, Antwan McLay; four siblings, Chastine Smith, Jr., James Smith, Shirley Bobbitt, and Margaret Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Beverly C. Mimms (Clifford), Mary C. Wright (Joseph), Christine Moore and Trina Y. Williams; loving daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Williams; brother, Charles W. Smith; sister, Marie E. Smith; nine grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
