Agnes Marie Coughlin, 79, of Toms River, NJ was called home suddenly Thursday, August 7, 2014, by our loving Father, The Lord Jesus Christ. Born in Newark, NJ, Agnes raised her children with her loving husband, John, in Belleville, NJ before moving to Toms River 31 years ago. Agnes retired from the Permits Department of the Township of Toms River Building Department. Agnes had also been employed at Mutual Benefit Life and Maas & Walstein, both of Newark, NJ. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River, and was a member of the church’s prayer group.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Joseph & Mildred McKenna, her sister Grace, her brother Francis and her daughter, Maureen. She is survived by her loving and cherished husband of 59 years, John Coughlin, her 4 devoted children, and their spouses Margaret & Robert Klaslo of Toms River, John J. & Loida Coughlin of Toms River, Thomas M. & Sheline Coughlin of Toms River, Eileen M. & Richard Keegan of Toms River, 3 brothers Joseph McKenna of Eatontown, NJ, Edward McKenna of North Arlington, NJ, Eugene McKenna of Branchville, NJ, a sister Maryellen Irwin of Forked River, NJ, 10 grandchildren Robert, Maureen, John, Matthew, James, Jennifer, Megan, Kaitlyn, Dina & Mark and 6 great-grandchildren Isla, John, Andrew, Christine, Craig & Hannah. She was also loved by many sisters & brothers in law, nieces, nephews & cherished friends.
Agnes will best be remembered by her lifelong selfless care for others & and crocheted gifts of love.
