Biography
Agnes Marie Lindgren, age 91 years of Niles, Michigan died at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan following a brief illness.
She was born on May 17, 1923 in Niles, Michigan to Edward Francis and Cecelia Josephine (Pawlak) Brothers. She attended Niles schools, and has lived in Niles and South Bend, Indiana all of her life. She was first employed in South Bend at Wilson Brother’s which specialized in shirtmaking, and later was employed at the former Robertson’s Department Store. During World War II, she was employed on the production line at the Studebaker Corporation.
Agnes was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles. She had traveled throughout the United States with her husband, and enjoyed practicing homemaking skills, especially crocheting afghans, sewing, gardening, and canning. She is well remembered for her love of all animals, both the domesticated pets, and all of nature.
On May 9, 1942 at the old Christ The King Catholic Church in South Bend she married Raymond H. Lindgren with whom she celebrated the sixty-first anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on December 20, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and by siblings Edward Brothers, Walter Brothers, and Helen Minarik.
Surviving family includes her children, Harold R. Lindgren and Colleen P. (& Michael) Klindworth, both of Niles; grandchildren Darren J. (& Rose) Lindgren and Amy P. (& Ryan) Adams; great-grandchildren Ryan Lindgren, Ian Adams, and Ava Adams; and Agnes’ sisters, Lucia (& Ralph) Hendershott and Mary Ann Brothers, both of Niles; and many nieces and nephews.
