He was born June 15, 1937 in Iredell County to William Andrew and Eula Myers Hayes.
AG especially loved hunting, gardening, his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Reep Hayes, of Statesville; son, Barry Hayes and wife, Paige, of Statesville; daughter, Angela Hayes of Troutman; five sisters; one brother; and four grandchildren, Lee Hayes, Clint Hayes, Andrew Hayes and Anna Gregory.
