, age 87, of Sones Chapel Community, MS, who passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017, will be held Monday, October 23, 2017, at 10:00 am at Serenity Landmark Missionary Baptist Church..A native of McNeill, MS, he was a retired Coach, Teacher, and Superintendent of Education in Pearl River County and a member of Sones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. Pate was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Albert Lumpkin and Elsie Moran Lumpkin; his brother, Bennie Lumpkin; and his sisters, Mamie Lumpkin, Erlean Lizana, Allene McClinton, Josephine Amacker, and Doris to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Virginia Kirkland Lumpkin; his daughter, Richelle Lumpkin and husband, Wendell; his son, Adrain Lumpkin, Jr. and wife, Shannon; 6 grandchildren, Hannah Lumpkin, Hunter Lumpkin, Sara Catherine Smith and husband, Alan, Caroline Lumpkin, Claire Lumpkin, and Laura Cate Lumpkin; 1 great grandson, Ross Alan Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful caregiver, Amanda Tester.
