Adra Marie Faber, age 100, was spirited away to Heaven on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in Hospice at The Algona Manor. Adra entered her earthly home to George and Gevevieve (Beckwith) Yeoman on September 24th, 1919, the youngest of 3 children. During her childhood, although her size remained diminutive, Adra’s spirit brimmed with the love of Christ, family, and enthrallment of music. Her years of violin and clarinet playing would later find instructional relevance teaching her grandchildren clarinet lessons. The Glow Worm was a family favorite, as Gram could not help herself from her operatic lyric interpretations. Adra and her beloved husband Leslie eloped during the war on January 2, 1943. Two years later their only child, Jane was born. Adra’s roles would quickly expand from wife, beautician, mother and Methodist, to seamstress, gardener, equestrian, bookkeeper and land owner; a woman of many hats, thank goodness she had a hat for every occasion. And of course don’t forget the tiny shoes, size 6 N to be exact! Upon Leslie’s passing, Adra became one of the Three Amigos (Jane and Wayne), always together, traveling for grandchildren’s concerts (a witness to an occasional navigational mishap), enjoying family dinners (laughing like crazy at Wayne’s “5 more minutes” of grill time which it never was) and attending weekly church services. We will always remember Gram’s beautiful knitted heirloom treasures , her fierce competitive edge playing UNO, the slumber parties highlighted with ice cream sundaes and homemade chocolate sauce, the secrets she kept with a twinkle in her eye (Devil’s egg recipe!?!, please?, We are blessed to have known her love of family, her endless generosity, and witness to her unyielding faith. We will miss her dry sense of humor and wit, the joy she exuded when surrounded by family, and unconditional love she had for each of us. Adra is survived by her daughter Jane (Wayne) Schultz, granddaughters Julie (Michael) Erickson, Kimberly (Darin) Haack and great grandchildren Elizabeth and Devin Erickson, and Emily and Genevieve Haack.
