Adolph “Geno” Giramondi, 92, of Forestville, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Bristol Hospital.
He was born September 11, 1915 in Waterbury, son of the late Aurelio and Angelina (Gambogi) Giramondi. Geno had attended Bristol Schools and was the owner of the former Penny’s Restaurant on Broad St. in the 40’s. He was a hard worker all his life, even after retirement, building bicycles for the neighborhood children. He worked at Hamp’s Restaurant for many years and people came from miles away just for his baked stuff shrimp. He also retired from Bristol Hospital where he was the head chef. He traveled to California twice a year and enjoyed having Thanksgiving with one of his daughters and her whole family. During his trips to California, one tradition was pizza night, where his grandchildren and friends and family enjoyed home made pizza and fried dough made by Gramps, where it was a privilege to be invited to the house to enjoy it. A tradition we will continue.
He leaves two daughters, Cassandra “Cassie” Charamut and her husband, David, of Newington and Penelope “Penny” Pichette and her husband, Richard of Moreno Valley, CA, formerly from Bristol. He leaves five grandchildren, Lisa Wilson of Burlington, Richard Pichette of Nuevo, CA, Jill Murr of San Jacinto, CA, Michael and Joseph Pichette of Moreno Valley, CA., seventeen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Delphino and Margaret Serra of LaSalle, MI and a sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Ernest Morris of Vancouver, WA, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers and sisters, Ernest Giramondi, Margaret (Giramondi) Herriott, Paris Giramondi, John Serra, and Leonetta (Serra) Rayford.
