Adella A. \”Dolly\” Lyon, a native of DeWitt, and a former resident of Elizabethtown, North Carolina and Ocala, Florida died peacefully in the care of her family on February 2, 2024 at the age of 79.Dolly was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 24, 1944, the daughter of Miles and Dorothy (Turner) Schoals and grew up on the family farm in DeWitt where she enjoyed the horses. She was a 1962 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School, and on January 9, 1965 she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald D. Lyon, whom she had known since childhood. She obtained her business degree from Lansing Community College and went on to work as a bookkeeper for many years with Schafer Concrete and the Michigan Hospital Association. She also operated her own word processing business, Words Unlimited, with which she assisted with court and medical dictation, served as a proofreader, and helped college students with their thesis papers. At home she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and feeding her hummingbirds.She was preceded in death by her parents, and Ron, her beloved husband of over forty-six years in 2011.She is survived by her children, Timothy Lyon, Annette (Keith) Bergquist, and Christopher Lyon; grandchildren, Tyler (Allison) Bergquist, Jessie Bergquist (Liam Gallagher), Zachary Bergquist, Sydney (Logan) Ireland, and Keenan Lyon.
