Matthews: Adeline L. “Addie” (Cole) Sells, 99, of Matthews, passed away November 16, 2015, in Marion General Hospital.

She was born in Gaston to the late William and Margaret (White) Cole. At the age of five, she moved to Matthews with her parents. She graduated from Matthews High School in 1934. Addie married Carl McCoy.

He preceded her in death. She later married Randall Sells and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Matthews, the Order of the Eastern Star #486, Warner Gear Sympathy Club, and the United Methodist Women. She was formerly a cook at Jefferson Elementary School and was a homemaker for most of her life.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Mullenix, Matthews; a son, Robert McCoy, Lillian, Alabama; three granddaughters, Kathy Sheets, Melinda Hicks, and Debra Slater; three great grandsons, Tye (Nina) McCowan, Kody Hicks, and Korey Hicks; six great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Cole, Muncie; three step-children, Wilma Glass, Jim (Pat) Sells, Theresa (David) Shanks; ten step-grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; several step great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Johnny Cole, Claude Cole, Erman Cole, and Martha Markins; and a step-son, Gary Sells.
