Adeline Marie Drotar, age 94 of Newport, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 in her home.Addie was born on October 16, 1926, in Detroit, to Agnes and Daniel Wade Carroll. She had two brothers, Edward and Daniel, and three sisters, Helen, Essie, and Joan. Addie graduated from Holy Redeemer High in 1944. She was employed by J.L. Hudson’s and C&O railroad as a business machine operator during the 1950s.Addie married Fred Drotar on November 29, 1953, and Daniel was born on August 13, 1954. Fred worked at the gas company and went to night school to receive a mechanical engineering degree in 1960. Fred retired from Ford in 1995.Addie and the family moved from Trenton to Newport in 1964. She was a volunteer secretary to Father Hubert, the pastor of St. Charles Church. Addie was also civic-minded and called “Citizen Drotar” by the Monroe Evening News for her work in the Monroe County area. She was active in the St. Charles Altar Society and was a volunteer at Monroe Mercy Hospital. Addie loved traveling and visited many countries, including Europe, Russia, India, Thailand, Bali, China, and four of her children made her proud. Daniel, who has passed away in November of 2010, was a die maker at Ford Motor Company; Thomas was a production designer in Los Angles and a graduate of the University of Michigan. Mary is a co-founder of Strategy 2 Market, a consulting and software firm based in Chicago, and a graduate of the University of Chicago. Bill is a business owner of Norberg Industries in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a graduate of the University of Chicago. Addie also had four grandchildren, Danielle Suttles of West Virginia, Dr. Sully Drotar of Dallas, Texas, Matt Drotar, and Layla Drotar in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
