Adelina D. Torres, 79 of Silver City, passes away on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at their home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 5, 1940, in Silver City, New Mexico, to Manuel and Lorenza Diaz. Adelina is preceded in death by her husband, Henry M. Torres, her parents Manuel and Lorenza Diaz, brothers, Calistro and Eddie Joe Diaz, sisters, Angelina Escudero, and Olivia Smith.

She is survived by her brothers, Fernando Diaz (North Hollywood, CA), Augustine Diaz, (Albuquerque, NM), and one sister, Inez Marques, (Anaheim Hills, CA), stepchildren Leilani McKinney (Springfield, MO), Joanie Bergstrom (Olive Branch, MS), Michael Torres (Enumclaw, WA) and Thomas Torres (Danbury, CT), special nieces and nephews and special friends.

Adelina served in the United States Marine Corps from January 1960 and retired in January 1980. She served at Camp Lejeune, SC; Saigon, Vietnam; Camp Smith HI and Camp Pendleton, CA.  While at Parris Island she was a drill instructor, and while in Vietnam, she was assigned to Headquarters, MACV (J52) SEATO Division handling secured documents. Adelina was employed at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church for 17 years as the office manager and a member of several church committees. She was “the go to person” and was always willing to help in any way she could. She was a very devoted Catholic and spent her life serving her church and helping others.
