Mrs. Adele E Walker died peacefully at the La Villa Grande nursing facility in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 96 on April 14, 2020.
Adele was born on April 1, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Stanley and Josephine Mizera. She was the middle child of five sisters and graduated from Chadsey high school in Detroit.
Soon after graduation, she enlisted in the Marine Core and proudly served during WWII from 1944- 1946 in Quantico, Virginia as a Quartermaster in supplies, where she met the love of her life, Jack. He was the Sargent over Adele’s detail.
They returned to the Detroit area to marry and raise their six children, settling in Allen Park.
After the children were raised, Adele worked for the Social Security office for a number of years and retired with Jack in 1985. Together they traveled the country in their camper and eventually settled down in Florida to enjoy retirement life.
Adele loved to travel and to read and passed that love to her children. In her retirement years, she volunteered at the local Library which gave her access to the books she loved as well.
Adele was preceded in death by her husband, Jack A Walker; her son, David; and her sisters, Stephie and Sophie.
Adele is survived by her children, Gary, Jim, Kevin (Terri), Nancy (Jon Kobylarz) and Mark (Melody) and her sisters, Dorothy and Virginia. Adele has ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Adele was fierce and incredibly strong in will and purpose. The family made cards for her with the insignia, “Never Give Up” and that sums up her strength. She was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.
