Adelaide went to heaven to be reunited with her husband and to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the age of 98. She was born June 6, 1918, on a farm in Bainbridge Township, MI. Adelaide valued education and completed studies at Bainbridge Center Schools, Watervliet High School in 1936, and Western Normal College (Western Michigan University) where she obtained a teaching certificate and majored in music in 1940. She took a teaching job in Lapeer, Michigan, where she met her husband, Harry and were married on August 6, 1945.

She attended Moody Bible Institute with Harry as they prepared for the mission field, and she taught school while Harry completed his medical training. Together they served as missionaries three years in Belgium and five years in Zaire, Africa. After fleeing Zaire in 1960, she and her husband returned to Lapeer where they established a medical practice in 1964 and retired in 1989. Soon after retirement they both served as short term missionaries in Africa and Bangladesh. Adelaide was active in the community and in her church. She was a Bible teacher, youth worker, choir member, children’s choir leader, and ladies’ ministry director at the First Baptist Church in Lapeer.

She was an active member in the “Home Circle” of Lapeer and the Lapeer County General Hospital Auxiliary Board. She moved to Mattawan, Michigan in 1999 where she lived for the last 17 years. Her favorite flowers were roses and gardenias. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting, making doll clothes, afghans, and quilts for her grandchildren.

Adelaide was preceded in death by Harry, her husband of 67 years, on September 13, 2012. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Lord and Joan Sinsabaugh; and two brothers, Charles Krieger and Dr. Norman Krieger.
