Ada Marie Clausen Groen, 85, of Boerne, Texas joined her Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by her family on July 2, 2016.Ada was born in Ames, Iowa on December 16, 1930 to Harry R. and Hazel Crooks Clausen. She graduated from Ames High School in 1949. Ada was married to Arvene (Swede) Groen on November 3, 1951; they were married 49 years and raised 3 children. In 1982 Ada, Arvene and their daughter Joy moved from Ames, Iowa to Edinburg, Texas, where she lived until shortly after Arvene’s death in 1991. She then moved to Arlington, Texas to be closer to family and eventually take on the roll of “Gram” to her 2 grandsons. In 2011, Ada moved to Boerne, Texas to join her daughter Joy’s family. She was her family’s biggest fan, supporting them at school, sporting, church, and youth group events. She and Arvene were always ready to chaperone ski trips, fund raisers and competitive skating trips. They also enjoyed their camping family at Shady Hills in Tama, Iowa. Ada is survived by a son, Jeff Groen of Arlington, Texas, daughter, Joy Stewart and her husband, Jeff Stewart of Boerne, Texas, grandsons, Alex Stewart of Abilene, Texas, and Josh Stewart of Boerne, Texas and several nieces and nephews.Ada is preceded in death by husband, Arvene Herman Groen, son Timothy Harry Groen, father, Harry R. Clausen, and mother, Hazel Crooks Clausen.Her family wishes to thank the staffs of Cibolo Creek Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Alamo Hospice, and Heritage Place for their wonderful support and care of Ada.
