Ada Mae Henderson, 101, of May’s Lick passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2016 at her home. She was born on February 15, 1915 to the late James and Sadie McGeorge Pope near Pineville, Kentucky. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hilbreth A. Henderson, a sister, Ruby Nell Reed and a daughter-in-law Alice Harris Henderson.
Ms. Henderson attended Barbourville Teachers College and spent a brief time as a teacher before her marriage in December of 1937. With the help of her entire family and a very special caregiver, Lois Appleman; Ms. Ada was able to remain at home and very active throughout her retirement. Ms. Henderson was an avid gardener, homemaker, and dedicated wife and mother to her family. She was an inspiration to many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Arthur D. Henderson of Houston, Texas, and Robert G. (Martha) Henderson of Lexington, Kentucky, four grandchildren; Kristen (David) Leavell of Austin, Texas, Katrina (Matthew) Lueckenhoff of Houston, Texas, William Gregory, and Michael Joseph Henderson both of Lexington, and four great-grandchildren; David and Mary Alice Leavell and George and Alice Louise Lueckenhoff.
