Ada Florence (Barker) Guyot died surrounded by family and loved ones on April 29, 2022, at her residence in Layton, Utah. She was born on April 28, 1938, in Upper Lake, California, the daughter of Ephraim Buck and Mary Henrietta (Peterman) Barker.
Ada was the eighteenth child of Ephraim and Mary Barker and was raised in California and spent the first eight years of her life at the family homestead in Barkersville, running the mountains from daylight till dark with her brothers and sisters. They didn’t have much in the way of material things but what they did have was priceless, their imagination as playthings and freedom to use them.
After graduating in 1957, Ada married James William Underhill on May 18, 1958, and started their family together they had 6 children. James and Ada divorced in 1978 and Ada later married her second husband Manuel Guyot on October 31, 1978.
In her spare time, after raising 6 children and playing/spending time with family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, Ada wrote and published a couple book “The Road to Barkersville, Watch out for Kids”, “4th of July at the Grand Ole Oaktree” and “A Journey of Two Hearts, the Love Story of Abe Lincoln and Ann Rutledge”.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by several of her brothers and sisters. Surviving in addition to her husband, Manuel Guyot of Layton, Utah; are sons, Clinton James (Patti) Underhill of Kamiah, Idaho, Gregory William (Kathleen) Underhill of Kalispell, Montana & Todd Bentley (Pamela) Underhill of Red Bluff California; daughters, Jill Maureen (Bob) King of Layton, Utah, Lori Beth (Allan) Eckman of Oroville, California and Marlena Colleen (Frank) Oliver of Oroville, California; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
