Ada Agnes Foote Chisley was born in Bowie, Maryland, to the late Marie Henson Foote and William “Curly” Foote. She departed this life on October 18, 2013. She was educated in the Public School System of Prince George’s County. She married Claudius Chisley in September 1940. To this union were born two children—Diane Delores Chisley Edge and Mary Catherine Chisley Griffin. Ada worked for many years at the Crofton Country Club where she met many lifelong friends. She also enjoyed many years as a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church in Odenton, Maryland and attended faithfully until she moved to Clinton, Maryland.
Her family and friends affectionately called her “Augie”. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, playing cards and enjoying meals together. She was an avid sports-lover and especially loved wrestling. She spent many hours watching wrestling and baseball on television. She was feisty and outspoken to the very end and would tell you exactly how she felt and what she was and was not going to do. If she said it, she meant it and she always had a quick comeback. She had a great sense of humor and kept you laughing. She was always stylishly dressed and red and white were her signature colors.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Claudius Chisley, daughter, Mary Chisley Griffin, three grandchildren, James Chisley, Sylvia Chisley Dodson and Donna Chisley, two sisters, Leola and Edna and four brothers, Norman, Thomas, Richard and Clifton.
She leaves to mourn her death, daughter Diane Edge; son-in-law Ernest Edge; sister-in-law Aleene Foote; 10 grandchildren, Helen Bell, Felicia Chisley, Vivian Chisley, Vera Chisley, Deborah Wedge, Paula Chisley, Don Chisley, Darlene Johnson, Lisa Chisley and Barbara Johnson; 39 great- grandchildren; 32 great great-grandchildren; a multitude of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
