Absalom Fay Williams Ph.D., 78, passed away peacefully in his home on November 30, 2019.
A native of Martin County and Huron High School class of 1959, Absalom attended Purdue University where he received a doctorate in Biology specializing in plant genetics and met the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Joyce. While raising their family, Absalom taught at Roger Williams College in Rhode Island, returned to Indiana to care for his parents and their farm, and eventually settled in Bloomington, Indiana where he most recently retired from Ivy Tech Community College after many joyful years of teaching biology. A life-long learner, Absalom loved to read, write and experiment in the sciences and instilled that sense of wonder about the world in his children and grandchildren. Absalom was a faithful member and retired deacon of the Southern Hills Church of Christ.
Survivors include sons, Adam and Daniel Williams; daughter, Mary Ellen (Williams) Ulmet; sister, Ann (Williams) Hogston and family; son-in-law Thomas Ulmet and three grandchildren, Justice, Autumn, and Marvel Ulmet, who added so much joy to his waning years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce in 2014 and cherished daughter, Dove (Williams) Boone in 2016.
