RYSKAMP, Abraham C. “Abe”, age 91, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014, at home with his wife, Ila, and family by his side. He was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo/Portage and was a member of the 88th Glider Infantry division during World War II.

Abe retired as a Union Pipefitter from the U.A. Local 357 in 1984.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Ila Smith Ryskamp; his four daughters; Marlene Sheldon, JoAnn DiLoreto Al, Jeanne Ryskamp Kim McGeorge, and Randi Ryskamp; 7 Grandchildren, Shane Sheldon Jeanna Peltier, Josh Sheldon Lisa, Missy Berg Matt, Jonathan Richards Misty, Jayme Richards Andy Havey, Todd McGeorge, and Amy Fisher Caleb; 8 Great Grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ellie, Avery, Olivia, Trenton, Cecelia, Audon and Irelyn.

He is also survived by several in-laws and dozens of nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Abe. Abe truly enjoyed flying, golfing, and boating as well as spending time with his family on Austin Lake. He was the last survivor of a family with 9 siblings whom he missed tremendously.
