Abel Ramiro Castañeda, went home to be with the lord on March 15th, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born on September 30, 1930 in Sebastian, Texas and resided with his wife in Harlingen, Tx.
Ramiro is preceded in death by his parents Julio and Teresita Castañeda along with his siblings Andrea Olivarez, Antonia Martinez, Leandro Castañeda, Manuel Castañeda, Maria Leal, and Beatrice Ysasi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Carlota Leal Castañeda, his only remaining sister, Dolores Rodriguez and his 5 children, Abel Castañeda Jr. (Sofia); Nelda Reyna (Eloy); Hector Castañeda (Martha); Nora Castañeda Dunkin (Doak); and Sandra Boyd (Jim).
His pride and joy were his 14 grandchildren and his 13 great grandchildren.
Ramiro’s boisterous laugh, bear hugs, contagious smile, jokes, funny stories, and the unconditional love he shared with his family were just some of his amazing attributes.
Throughout his life, Ramiro operated several businesses, was a trusted driver for Valley Transit and flipped many homes before flipping was a “thing”. All his endeavors allowed him to successfully provide for his family.
Ramiro touched so many lives and he will be greatly missed.
