Abbie Lee Keeton James was born on February 15, 1919 to the parentage of Minister Greene Lee and Willie D. Sheffield Keeton whom proceded her in death. She was the tenth child of fifteen children, eleven of which preceded her in death.
Abbie Lee Keeton James married Herbert James on March 13, 1937 in Meridian, Mississippi. They lived in Meridian a couple of years before moving to Yantley, Alabama where they raised seven children; two girls and five boys.
Abbie and Herbert remained a happy couple for more than 63 years. She lost her dearest friend on July 15, 2000. She continued to be a strong advocate for Christianity. Her greetings always included the question, “Do you know the Lord”.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories; three children, Myrtle Woods, Hollis, New York, Lessie Sharp, Panoma, California and Wayne (Rosalind) James, York, Alabama. Three loving and caring siblings; Lizzie Holcombe, Mobile, Alabama, Rosie Holcombe, Yantley, Alabama and Greene Lee Keeton, Yantley, Alabama. Numerous of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
