Martin “Marty” Howell, 68 of Centralia, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.He was born January 26, 1948, son of Charles Henry Howell and Frances Louella (Bree) Howell Sandy. He married Rosemary Atchison in 1967, they later divorced and she preceded him in death in 2013.
He is survived by his life companion, Mary Cameron, of 43 years and she survives in Centralia. In addition to his life companion, Mary Cameron of Centralia, he is also survived by seven children: Charlie Howell and wife Renee of Tennessee, Scott Howell and wife Tracy of Bartelso, Larry Baslington of Centralia, Gary Baslington of Centralia, Beverly Boxx of Centralia, James Howell of Centralia, and Justin Howell and wife Cynthia of Centralia; 16 grandchildren: Jessica, Montana, Kaylea, Skyann, Ashlee, Alexandria, Jake, Gracie, Amanda, Christian, Bradley, Christian, Kyler, Kaiden, Ciara, and Josie “Joeybella”; one grandpuppy, Coco; four great-grandchildren: Aubriana, Lucian, Paislee, and Braeden; two brothers and two sisters: Larry Howell and wife Mary of Mt. Vernon and Billy Howell and wife Dee Dee of Junction City, Michelle Gaines and husband Charles of Lafayette, Tennessee, and Debra Karch and husband Allen of Dwight, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Gary Martin of Centralia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents: Harry and Ida Mae Howell and Herman and Beulah Bree, first wife: Rosemary Atchison, two sisters: Ida Boch and Dayna Sherl. Marty enjoyed playing his guitar and writing country music. He also enjoyed watching racing and tinkering in his garage. Marty liked to go junking and going to rummage sales with his special friend, Gary Martin. Most of all his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, friends and four-legged companion, Saddie.
