Kathy Lynn Holderread, 67, of Walkerton, Indiana, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, in the presence of her family.The oldest of five children, Kathy was born November 16, 1950 in South Bend, Indiana to Charles and Kathleen (Frame) Whitmer. Fondly nicknamed “Dolly” by her father, Kathy was an avid gardener and took pride in her flowers. She enjoyed antiquing and the travel while searching for the perfect find.
When she was younger she drove semi-trucks where her handle was “Sunrise.” Kathy later owned a business in Elkhart with her daughter Tina for 16 years, PM Buttons. She was also always eager to help her daughter with her stable. A true giver, she once again drove trucks hauling grapes for Gnodtke Farms. She loved every minute of it because she was working with the love of her life, Calvin Gnodtke, whom she sadly leaves behind. Family has always been important to Kathy, and she was especially close to her siblings. Get togethers were a common occurrence and were filled with laughter and food.
Kathy will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children: Jason (Nicki) Holderread of South Bend, Kerry (Kerry Ann) Holderread of Walkerton, and Tina (Michael) Prout of Walkerton; grandchildren: Trica (John Johnson) Holderread of Waterford, Robert Holderread of Waterford, Sean Prout of Walkerton, and Colleen (Kolton) Rudzinski of Plymouth; great-grandchildren: William and Scarlet; sisters: J.A. (John Frizzo) Whitmer of Elkhart, Crystal (John) Dalrymple of Niles, and Jessica (Donald) Koziel of Greentown; brother Charles (Jeffrey Bucher) Whitmer II of Chicago; her partner in life Calvin Gnodtke and beloved dog “Teddy” of Sawyer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
