1st Sgt. Richard “Rick” L. Knight, age 61, of Addison, MI, passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at home. Rick was born March 6, 1955, in Dearborn, MI. He was a graduate of Edsel Ford High School, Class of 1973. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 1979. Rick became a Airborne Ranger in 1980. He did five deployments to Panama, also served in Somalia, Grenada, Desert Storm and numerous other missions. Rick retired from the U.S. Army in 2000 after 21 years of service. Following his retirement, he settled in a home that he built in Addison, MI. Rick enjoyed entertaining family and friends and fishing from his pond he made in his backyard. Rick also enjoyed landscaping and making his home & yard heaven on earth. He is survived by his loving wife & best friend, Cheri Knight, stepson, Casey and special poppa to Kaiden, special son in law to Mary Scarfone of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, his parents, Donald & Jeanne Knight, his siblings, Robin (Dave) Ranker, Kim (Pat) Reilly, Eric (Debbie) Knight, Brad (Janet) Knight, Beth O’Hara, Rebecca (Chris) Torrance, Shanna (Paul) Lewis and Rachel Knight and numerous nieces and nephews. Rick will be missed by all his family and many close friends.
